Welcome to the South Area Advisory Council

The South Area Advisory Council (SAAC) is a collaborative and inclusive advisory group composed of committed volunteers including parents, teachers, principals, district personnel, and community members working together to improve the educational experience for all students in our area schools.

At the heart of our council are the School Advisory Forum (SAF) Chairs. Each chair represents an individual school and serves as a vital liaison between families and school leadership. They bring forward feedback, concerns, suggestions, and commendations from their school communities to our monthly council meetings, ensuring that the voices of students and parents are heard and valued.

In addition to SAF Chairs, our council includes representatives who serve in key roles such as:

  • Parent-at-Large – representing the broader parent community

  • Elementary and Middle School Representatives – advocating for age-specific needs

  • Facilities Representative – addressing infrastructure and maintenance concerns

  • And other roles that reflect the priorities of our schools

Our purpose is to listen, inform, and advocate. We actively participate in District-level advisory meetings and serve as a conduit for communication between local schools and district leadership. When necessary, we draft and present formal motions or recommendations to the Broward County School Board, advocating for policies and initiatives that support our students' success.

Our monthly meetings provide a platform for:

  • Guest speakers and expert presentations on topics relevant to student achievement, wellness, safety, curriculum, and community resources

  • Open forums for discussion and questions, where stakeholders can express ideas or concerns

  • Collaborative problem-solving and updates on district or legislative developments

Participation is not limited to official members we warmly invite all parents, guardians, school staff, and community partners to attend and engage. Whether you want to stay informed, contribute ideas, or take on a leadership role, your voice is welcome and your involvement makes a difference.

Region Advisory Council shall foster and promote communication among School Advisory Forums, School Advisory Councils, and the District Advisory Council. The Area Advisory Council shall bring forth recommendations, concerns and interest from the area and to and from District Advisory Council.
